Brexit FAQ's

Image of a jigsaw with european flag and a union jack piece moved away to symbolise Brexit.

With new rules coming into force on the 1st January 2021 we want to make sure all our customers are clear on how it will work for orders from univarSC.com to Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland after the 1st January. We've put together some FAQ's below.

Can I still order if I live in Republic of Ireland?

Yes, we will still be taking orders for the Republic of Ireland after 1st January 2021.

Will I have to pay duty on my order?

Under new rules, from the 1st January any deliveries from UK mainland to Republic of Ireland will incur duty charges that will need to be paid by the customer at a post office or pick up point.

However, thanks to our office and warehouse in Bangor, Northern Ireland we are able to dispatch orders from this site to the Republic of Ireland without the need to apply duty charges thanks to the Irish backstop agreement. This means any order placed in Republic of Ireland will be dispatched from our Bangor warehouse and delivered directly to your door with no need to pay duty.

How long will it take to deliver my order?

If you place an order from the Republic of Ireland and the item is stocked in our Northern Ireland warehouse then it will take 1-2 days to receive your order depending on the time and day of your order. Orders on a Friday afternoon will take slightly longer.

If the item is not in stock at our Northern Ireland warehouse then we will need to transfer it from our warehouse in Tamworth. This will increase the delivery time of your order slightly but our team will keep you up to date with delivery lead times if this is the case.

We have been working hard to keep good stock of products in our Northern Ireland warehouse to ensure we can fulfil orders as quickly as possible to Republic of Ireland.

How much will delivery to Ireland cost?

Orders to Republic of Ireland will be charged at our standard rate. There are currently no plans to change this. You can find more information on our delivery charges here.

Do I need a VAT number to place an order?

If you live in Republic of Ireland then you do not need a VAT number to place an order online, you will be charged VAT on your order though. If you do have a VAT number then this can be entered at the cart, we will then remove the VAT from your order before you checkout and any future orders.
